Living Without The Baggage Of Men’s Lies

Looking back into my work as a mental health clinician for so many years, I understand the direction that I took then, going to graduate school, in my life.

Those years were full of turmoil and I found myself wanting myself as my own therapist but not knowing God then.  It made for a strange outlook on life.

How is one supposed to be their most intelligent counsel?  How was I led into those horrible experiences I had to suffer through and why had I gone through life that way?

I had my own advice to follow.  I did what the world said.  I went to graduate school, had a child and owned a home.  Now what did the world have to say about that?

The feedback I got was that people began hating me – I lost my family of origin and my own child, two marriages and a career I didn’t fit in, the same way I feel now being in the job I have now.

But only it is worse now without the money I made while working as a mental health clinician.

Leaving that job behind has been a God-send, however, because now that I am “saved” I see that going in the direction of mental health counseling and earning a PhD in psychology would only have put me further into debt in a career I do not want.

It’s funny how the Lord Jesus Christ changes it all when you finally believe and take that plunge into believing fully and He makes your life change.  I know I did the right thing to leave a career based upon human emotions and what the culture of the day dictates.  It’s all hogwash to me now.

What a joke it is to believe that mankind can somehow read into the mind’s of men and say they are this and that, diagnosing them in a way that is not Godly.

Why base a diagnosis on a so-called science that is driven by men that have no God in their lives?  Do they know the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ?  Do they have enough information to help people heal?  Do they have the power of the Holy  Spirit to guide them?

After all, how can mankind know what a person really needs?

Psychology steers mankind away from God.

I am glad I got out.  I have a chance at living a better life, living for Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior who has given me the hope of having a better life, and at the end of my life in my body he saves me from death.

I want to live again with Jesus in my afterlife that I believe in.  Nothing can be better.

Harshness In Our World: But Jesus Is Real Who Came To Save

Today while reading from 1 Peter in the Bible, a verse jumped out at me and made me remember what I had seen in earlier days of my Christian walk.

… but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, … ~ 1 Peter 3:15

A few years ago I was disturbed by videos I had watched that seemed to take on more significance to me.  When it comes to spreading the Word of God, seeing those videos of one or two people holding signs, “Repent”, and things like that on sidewalks, and shouting out that you “will go to hell” if you do not repent of your sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ now.

Firstly, in these videos, no passersby nor traffic have asked them to share their reasons why they believe in Jesus as Lord.  While people drive by, going about their business, they weren’t seeking answers nor seeking Christ.  Why would these demonstrators impose their beliefs on someone this way?  These “Jesus followers” open themselves up to ridicule, and by the way they act, I was bothered by them enough to think along those same lines.  And it was embarrassing.  Jesus never acted that way.

Anyway, these videos proudly showed how, in my opinion, these demonstrators “carried the message” for their own self-aggrandizement, and have bothered me for some time.  I knew something felt wrong, and I didn’t know why.

No, not exactly why.  So secondly, and perhaps even more importantly, I felt their demonstrating was a harsh way of sharing Jesus and presented him as a form of a wrathful, evil person.  Jesus is not Satan.

People who share the gospel in this way really don’t have an understanding of Jesus’ message.  He does not want us to harshly judge people who are of the world, but to share in love, with quiet understanding, believing in him to do the miracle of sharing His love in someone’s heart in His way.

Loving, tenderness, kindness are the key.  No one wants to believe in a God who sends them to hell.

Jesus said, “I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.”

If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. ~ John 12:47

Let’s give our Lord and Savior the honorable place in our lives.  Be loving and do good works for people.

Watered-Down Christianity Is Fake “Christianity”

I’m still reading John MacArthur’s Charismatic Chaos, and find it a wonderfully written explanation of what has been happening in the church’s sliding down the slippery slope of a “spiritual-free-for-all”.

He writes;

A longing for something new and esoteric has replaced historic Christianity’s settled confidence in the Word of God–and that is an invitation to Satan’s counterfeit.  Confusion, error, and even satanic deception are the inescapable results. – John MacArthur, Charismatic Chaos

The Bible is a record of what the Lord has left for us to find our way as Christians, and that by reading it our minds will be renewed.  We hold his Word dear to our hearts because we know our lives need his Word to bring us in close communication with God.  They are his words.  They should not be added to or taken away from.

Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar. – Proverbs 30:6

The Bible was given to us so that we know who Jesus was, what he taught, and what he expects of us as Christians to know and what we should behave like.  The Bible tells us how the world started, who God is, and how the world will end as well as what will happen to Christians after we die.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. – Matthew 24:35

Nowhere are we taught that we should hear the words of the Lord while we are on the earth today because further instruction is not needed.  We know God through his Word and communicate to him in our prayers and expressions of gratitude and love for him.

As John MacArthur wrote;

Charismatics have abandoned the uniqueness of Scripture as the only Word of God, and the result if a spiritual free-for-all.

The church has become a watered-down free-for-all where all people are welcome, yet none are saved.  They only want the experience and to pretend that they know and love God.  But do they really?

A Second Look: Hebrews 13:17

Reading in Hebrews today, a scripture appeared as I read from chapter 13:17;

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account.

It seems as though I remember this verse being taught over and over again that is meant to obey our societal authorities, but what authorities?

Would we be mandated to submit to authorities who were corrupt and harming innocent persons?  Would authorities mean anyone who is an authority but who is not a believer?

But then as I read over this verse, I realized that this verse does not talk about authorities in our country, for example.  It is speaking about our pastors and others who are “keeping watch over our souls”.

Authorities in the world are not necessarily Christians and so are not “keeping watch over our souls”.  It is the Christian’s who teach us who either watch over their flock and teach them the right road to walk down who have the ability to “watch over our souls”.

False teachers are not “keeping watch over our souls”, either.  They take us down the wrong road with their teachings that go against the true teachings of the Bible.  They also will not be enabled to “give an account”, presumably to Jesus over how well they watched over us and gave us the right teachings.

False teachers will lead us astray and we don’t follow them, or we will be walking away from the teachings of the Lord.

The Coming Convergence: Movie Review

Tonight I watched a movie called “The Coming Convergence” which I wanted to write about in case you’ve not heard about it and want to watch it.  A Christian film, it focuses on bible prophecy and how bible prophecy is always exact and tells the truth.

It says that the bible has over 2,500 prophetic messages and that the bible has survived the rise and fall of countless civilizations, keeping biblical records preserved over time.  Ancient artifacts are still discovered that support religious events talked about in the bible.

I jotted topical notes and quotes from the movie that I thought were striking, many that I knew about already.  Here are some.

Mankind today is distracted by things we buy which covers up fear but these things do not last, so what is the value in superficial items?

There is a paradox in a world that asks what happens to the world.  Some believe instinctively that the world has to end, but not knowing how it will end, they blame God.  The movie’s young star takes us through her reasoning about why she is still on the earth and she asks, how can the world blame someone who they don’t believe is there?

The bible talks about the convergence of catastrophic events in the end times that we are in now, how ominous things come upon the earth that will be cataclysmic natural disasters.  Earthquakes have increased in frequency and intensity and earthquakes symbolize “birth pains” of the world.

Regarding earthquakes, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data of the last 100 years point to the fact that earthquakes are in fact increasing, and how the USGS is in denial of their own data.

The bible talks about how the stars will be darkened, the moon will turn to a red blood color and the sun will turn black in several places.  Examples are Matt 24:29; Acts 2:20; Joel 2:31.  These darkenings of the stars, moon and the sun would be caused by the ash caused by volcanic eruptions resulting from the increase in earthquakes, and that earthquakes will occur in unusual places.  Many volcanoes lie under the ocean and are not yet discovered, it is thought.

Man cannot create perfection, even in a time that the world might find it’s savior in a man risen up to save the world; we know him as “the antichrist” who we know will not keep his peaceful stance in the world but will cause great destruction, leading to the Apocalypse.

The world is raising up death itself, but the purpose of destroying life on earth again is to end the suffering and death going on now.  God proves that He is the One True God.

I thought it was a movie worth sharing.  In a documentary format, it interweaves some of the well-known Christians who study prophecy, adding their commentary about the facts of bible prophecy, proving the point that God stands true to his word he has given the world in which to know what happens in the end times, his history and prophecy that repeats itself from the Old Testament throughout the New.

What an exciting time we live in.

Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n Roll vs. Godly Lives

I’ve learned a lot lately, how Pastors are changing things.  I’ve written before about how I cannot stand what has happened in the churches, having manifestations of strange ideas, looking for miracles, signs, and wonders.

It’s as if God himself were taking a back seat to all the shenanigans.

I can see how new pastors who have studied under these mega church pastors want the same things they have; large attendances, lots of rock-band singing of those Christian songs, and who build excitement in their memberships.  All you need is a pastor’s stage-diving into his audience to “crowd surf” to really enjoy a church rock band.

Well, this is what it’s turning into.  Maybe a “safe space” will be provided in a back room where people can smoke a joint and “decompress”, knowing they are in a safe place and can talk about their issues with an understanding counselor.

It reminds me of what the world was once, turning into a grand human experiment, with no rules to abide by.  Hang out, drop in and play your guitar.  What a sense of community with guitar-laden, cool people to sit down with for a cup of coffee, talk Jesus and perform miracles.

After all, what is church about but to “be cool with your brothers and sisters in Christ”, accepting everything one does, never teaching wrong from right and acceptance is key.  It sounds like a liberal party.

In his Charismatic Chaos, John MacArthur quotes Dewey Beegle, from The Inspiration of Scripture (1963):

“What distinguishes the Bible is its record of special revelation, not a distinctive kind of inspiration.”

This goes against those who want to change the bible’s specialness from how to live Godly lives and understanding how obedience to Jesus is practiced, to what is good is what makes one feel good and all are welcome, any behaviors will be tolerated, that “Jesus loves all” and so we should too.

Jesus taught right from wrong, what was special about his Father’s words.   That he is the Son of the One True God and that people should worship Him; and not those guitars and music that talk about sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll.

A better life is waiting for us and we should thank the Lord every day for the possibility of being with Christ Jesus for eternity.  We should leave ungodly lives behind.

My Memories Of Joyce Riley, Dave vonKleist And Linda Kennedy At The Power Hour Radio Station

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. ~ Romans 12:2

This verse came to mind while I was in bed thinking about what I had just read, about the passing of The Power Hour radio host Joyce Riley who passed in June of 2017.

I hadn’t been aware of this since I have been out of touch of that genre of radio; the Americana old style Patriot movement that reached out to their huge audiences with health supplement products and natural healing, not trusting doctors and talking about all the major conspiracies our country has faced.

Joyce Riley was a 9/11 truther, along with her then-husband  Dave vonKleist who apparently still lives somewhere as a musician/broadcaster, according to his website.  He was the producer of a documentary called, 911: In Plane Site, and I checked a website about him many years ago and it still looks the same as of yesterday.

The reason I was stunned to hear that Joyce Riley had died, “Capt’n Joyce Riley”, was that I had been to her radio station, The Power Hour, where she and Dave lived and had a warehouse selling those healing supplements, where her studio and broadcast tower were on their private property in Versailles, Missouri.  I was so moved to hear that her passing was caused by breast cancer.  How ironic that with all the healing products that were for sale in her warehouse that supported the radio station that she was unable to cure the cancer that metastasized through her body.

I thought further about how our minds are rejuvenated and how my mind had been made new, but incrementally over time.  I was struggling when I met Joyce Riley and was part of the movement that she, Dave and Linda Kennedy were involved in.  I remember Dave telling me on the phone before I drove out there to buy a ham radio in order to communicate to others with, because we would need them to be able to reach people by ham radio no matter what happened to regular communications, or something like that.

I never bought one, I was too financially stressed.  Those were the days that many in the Patriot movement were buying canned food or packaged astronaut-type foods that would keep on the shelf for a very long time in the case of nuclear war or any emergency, such as secret societies, the Illuminati in particular, thinking that the world was overpopulated and they had to find ways to kill people off.

This was a time right after 9/11 and there were fear-brokers everywhere telling us to distrust the government, they would take our guns away and round us up, not letting us be free people and other variations of those kinds of takeovers of countries around the world.  It was the One World Government that would overthrow us and we had to plan our escape.  How odd that so many Patriots say they are God-fearing people, yet they have these conspiracy theories as if they are all alone in what happens to our country.

My first contact with Dave and Joyce was through talking with attorney Linda Kennedy.  We were in one of the same judicial accountability groups and I had become quite involved in learning how the family courts in California and other states operated.  I had been fighting for custody of my daughter and had lost all that I had.  My life had taken a downhill spiral that I have put into the Lord’s hands and have trusted him to help me understand all that was happening to me at that time in my life; and about earlier times in my family when I grew up.  I trust he will tell me one day or lead me to answers if I’m still on this earth long enough to find out.

It is a long story, how I came to meet that group of people in Missouri and others around the country.  Being involved in Judicial Accountability and other aspects of the law brought me in touch with many groups of people around the country who were meeting in restaurants, homes, and talking online together.  I met many people during the meetings and groups I attended in San Jose and Sacramento, California and I hosted a few shows on internet radio where I listened to many stories of people who were hurt by courts in California, and around the country.

So I met Joyce at her house where she would cook in the kitchen and had the studio where they did live radio broadcasts in a little studio in their home.  She was at one time a nurse in the Air Force, and her obits tell more about her life.  Her bio can be read from when she was a guest one time on a Coast To Coast guest appearance page.  She may have made more guest appearances there, I don’t know for sure, but she was a formidable voice in the Patriot movement and well-known through many groups and causes she spoke about on her radio show.

I also knew Linda Kennedy, a disbarred attorney, who was the person who invited me to live out there.  Linda was hired by Joyce and Dave as their legal person, and Linda told me that she had to talk to a guy who was in jail at the time, and had to straighten out something between him and Joyce Riley.  I can’t recall what it was but it was very important.  Linda could tell them the ins and outs of the law and knew her way around the courts of Virginia where she had practiced law.  The reason they hired her presumably, was because Linda was a voice that stood out because she said the courts were corrupt and so she found favor among many Patriots.  Little did I know she was a fraud, and a huckster.

Too many wounded and scared people turned to Linda, even trusted her, because she had been a practicing attorney who brought her disbarment to the public as her reason for speaking out about judicial abuse.  She claimed she was a victim of an abusive, fraudulent court system.  She was an outspoken advocate for judicial accountability, and many, possibly Joyce and Dave were much like most of us who knew her name and fell for her corruption of her own.  We so wanted attorneys to be on our side and join us in the judicial accountability movement.

Linda turned out to be a nasty, mean-spirited control freak.  I felt she made a pass at me with a “come on” statement when I had barely arrived, as if she were checking me out as a fine specimen of a woman she found desirable.  This put me in a tailspin, not expecting anything of the kind to come out of Linda’s mouth.  She then made a comment about how she might “need to have me packed up in a box and shipped back to California” so that I knew it was time to get out of there.

I did not tell Joyce or Dave about it; I announced I was leaving and someone from their company gave me a ride all the way up to the northern part of the state where I stayed less than a day at one of my internet radio show’s listener’s home at the time.  He was not prepared to have me there, with his wife’s being incapacitated.  I had to move on, feeling in a crisis, and I realized I trusted Linda Kennedy too much and had caught myself up short with nowhere to go and no money to go on.  I hitch-hiked from there to another house of a radio show listener I had spoken to and felt I had tumbled downhill from one place to the next, with a feeling of crumbling hopes and dreams.  I was on my crisis journey that led me eventually to Christ.

Looking around online, I found the Ripoff Report that I think was written by the same attorney, Linda Kennedy.  Who else could write the things she said.  Briefly checking, I found Ripoff Reports about her in return.

I know that Linda had been fired by Dave and Joyce.  Linda admitted to me that she was very mean to Dave to make him do things she wanted him to do.  She said she would order him to do things she wanted done and that she was quite mean about it, but he never fought her, never tried getting rid of her because she worked hard for them and she was working hard for what Joyce wanted, or something along those lines.  It’s been a long time so I don’t remember everything she said.  I  have not thought of these people for many years except that I had wondered what happened when Joyce and Dave went their separate ways.  I did check a time or two during the 12 or more years since I have been there.  They seemed the happy couple working the radio shows and being on-air together.

I watched a video in Joyce’s honor where she had interviewed guest Dr. Lorraine Day after Joyce had made public her breast cancer.  I read through the records of many in her listening audience who were talking about Joyce’s cancer and that she would use natural treatments only, bypassing the normal radiation and chemo treatments that caused so many to be sick and weak.  She was a Patriot, wanting what’s best for our Vets, tirelessly keeping the cause alive.  She did what she felt she believed in; avoiding doctors and using natural treatments.  She shared what it meant to be an American Patriot.  I’m sure there are many who still miss her voice on radio greatly.
