We have promises in the bible that the general public doesn’t seem to know about and just guess at, probably, but I would guess that many would want things that the Lord has promised if they knew the truth, such as good physical health.
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. – Proverbs 3:7-8
Let’s look at what this is saying; to not trust in your own wisdom for I would venture to say that mankind has no more knowledge than the Lord has, and we probably have an infinitesimal amount of knowledge, in comparison to the Lord’s knowledge.
We are haughty when we think we can trust our wisdom, blinded by arrogant and man-made formations of knowledge, wisdom and success, when it was God who created the earth and all of mankind. Do we think we have more wisdom than the Creator of the universe? That would be arrogant.
And to fear the LORD, to me, means that we follow what the Lord said in his Scriptures. We obey what the Lord has taught us in the bible and we read it right so that we do not add or subtract from what it says. In other words, we do not make up our own bibles so that we feel more comfortable with rules that we follow that are comprised of our own wisdom and knowledge. His words cannot be changed, and they have stood the test of time through the ages, and mankind still obeys them today.
The Holy Spirit makes that happen; we read and we read and His Words sink deep into our souls. They heal us from within. And that is what I’m getting at.
His words above say that we are to obey His Words, turn away from evil, and;
It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
