A Job Worth Loving

Welcome to everyone, especially job seekers, since that is what I’m thinking about today.

As you know, it’s hard to find satisfying work in a field you love; and that is where I’m trying to wind up, in a job I love where I can be valued by an employer, and have the job satisfaction that I am seeking.

I wrote a blog article on LinkedIn about my job search where I have quit too many jobs after short periods of time, and the why for several of them.  Recruiters seem to understand, at first, but they “ghost” you soon thereafter.  It’s been a struggle and I’ve acquired three gig jobs to keep money flowing in but I’m not happy.  It’s interrupted my thought process on trying to get a book written yet I have sought God on this issue.

It seems as though my temporary job at Google will start in two weeks instead of Monday, and that is good because my prayer is that I can complete the draft and send it to someone for review.  I’d like to get published quickly.  It seems this week I will have the time.

So much of my life I have failed at what I’ve tried; I’ve gotten no traction, but knowing God as much as I am capable now after becoming a believer, I know the verse that states;

On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. – Psalm 91:12

We are told to be anxious for nothing;

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6

My belief in God has helped me in this journey, quitting my last job due to it turning into a kitchen help position.  I wasn’t the right person for the job and my skills and education dictates (to me, at least) that I can do better than washing someone’s dishes at work every day that I did not use nor want to handle.  It became more than a kitchen job, I was also to cater the food so that it looked appealing, etc. etc. etc.  I can’t tell you how unhappy it made me!

If you are job seeking today and are a believer please take your issue to the Lord Jesus Christ!  He has a way, and will lovingly watch over you to make you happy that you did the right thing in leaving a job that had become not the right job for you.  He counts every hair on your head;

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. – Matthew 10:29-31

This is not a God I grew up with and I am astounded every day at how the love of Christ is felt in my heart every day.

For those of you who are suffering under the major setback of being unemployed, please call upon your Heavenly Father who loves you and watches over you like a bird’s wings surrounding her chicks.  Be well.

  1. Amen, thanks Suzanne for your exhortation. I have been looking for other employment as I am getting older and would like something easier physically but now can’t do many other types of work and also due to age discrimination. I humbly ask for your prayers that God would act on my behalf. Thank you and have a good day. 🙂

    • Hi Rick, of course I will pray for your situation and that the Lord Jesus Christ will intervene in your situation, and keep you in his care to see you through to your new employment. It is stressful in our human flesh but we do have a God who created this universe who we can call upon in times of trouble. I pray you find some open doors in the near future! I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

  2. I would say more about some ideas I have had regarding a type of home business but probably would be too much for a public forum. God bless you Suzanne. 🙂
