This morning I would like to type some of the words used in my bible’s notes because they may help someone out there who is not a true believer to understand what the life of a Christian is about.
As I posted to my blog the verses Ephesians 4:17-24;
Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!– assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:17-24
I usually use John MacArthur’s study bible I bought some years ago from his website which I find really accurate and helps me to understand the true moral depravity of unbelievers who continue to walk in the path of sin.
Spiritually separated from God, willing spiritual darkness, ignorant of God’s truth, blind and “hard” like rocks, moral blindness. They are “alienated from the life of God.”
Callous, insensitive, apathetic morally and spiritually, sensuous, impure, “behaviorally depraved”, licentious, losing “moral restraint” especially in sexual sin, impure that is “inseparable from greediness” which is “idolatry” in part.
He writes that it “is due only to God’s common grace” that some people may not go as far in their immorality.
These are some of the strong warnings I have gotten from MacArthur’s bible notes and I hope they help us to understand what is happening in the world today.
