Basic Gospel No One Told Me When I Was A Non-Believer

For God sent not his Son into the world to condem the world; but that the world through him might be saved. – John 3:17

I had a lot of confusion when going to church with a friend as a child growing up in northern California.  I realized I had not made the valuable basics of what is in the bible available for anyone who reads my blog.  So, this is it: for you if you are unfamiliar with what the bible is about, in a nutshell and why it is so important to know about.  This blog post, which I might edit at any time to make it better and more understandable as a primer for those who don’t understand.  This post is especially for you, so that you might have a fighting chance at understanding what the bible talks about and its importance to all of mankind.

It begins with Our Creator, who spoke through man in a way they understood to write the bible down.   “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…”, from Genesis chapter 1, verse 1, in the old testament.  He created the universe and everything in it, including the first man, Adam, from the earth and He breathed life into him.  Then Eve was created who talked Adam into eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil – beause Satan convinced her that she could eat from that tree.  Tricky Satan – never trust Satan.  Not being supposed to, she did it anyway.  Satan tricked her.

The fall of mankind began with the fall of Adam and Eve when they disobeye God and listened to Satan, instead.  He told them not to eat fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil – so know they knew evil.  That caused not only the fall of Adam and Eve, they were sinful, and did not obey God, but it caused all people from then on to be born into sinfulness.

God describes all kinds of sin in the bible through many stories, chapters and verses all throughout the bible so we know what sin is and does to mankind.   We are fallen flesh and continue to rebel against our Maker by not believing in Him, and not believing what is in the bible.  We are unrighteous because we rebel against God’s knowledge of man and how we have fallen into sin.  God guides us in his bible and has given us information so we can obey Him and get to know Him.

All through the Old Testament people did not abide by the Lord; they went their own way sinning and became so sinful that God had to get rid of most of the people in the great flood.  A few were saved with enough of the animal species to recreate the population on earth.  God does not like sin.  He is Holy and cannot tolerate sin or people’s that worship other gods and man-made philosophies and religions.

God knows man cannot walk in righteousness and without sin because every person has been born into sin.  “The wages of sin is death”, and he who sins, who lives without God, will die, their souls will live in eternal punishment for it.  “The soul who sins will die.”

Then God the Father sent Jesus to give humankind a way to live for eternity forgiven of their sins so they would be given a chance to live eternally with God and so their souls would be made alive, they will be new creations in Christ Jesus who saved them from their sinful ways and forgives them for all the sins they have perpetuated, including when they had no belief and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Once you reach out, asking Jesus Christ to come into your life, you sincerely seek him and read his bible to learn who he is, you pray to him, you tell him your sorrows, your pain…he eventually makes it apparent that you are saved.

My experience is that I knew something would listen to my pleas for help, my talking to Him, sincerely from my heart – and my life seemed to take on a new power that I know was not my own.   I had strength through trying times with the peace that passes all understanding, like it says in the bible.  He gives peace to our hearts and we can rest in his safety.  I feel this in my heart when I need comforting.  It is his Holy Spirit who is also known as “The Comforter”, who Jesus Christ gives his children who follow and obey His words in the bible.  The bible speaks to these wonderful gifts but you must read a lot of the bible sincerely, learning as you go, savoring the words you read as the Holy Spirit quickens the heart with the truth, the power and the true beauty of the Scriptures.

Without God there is no real saving power.  There is no way to get into the gates of heaven without the grace of Jesus’ death of the cross.  He carried the sins of us all, and died in place of us; sinful people of the earth.  He died on the cross in place of us dying for our sinful natures.  He overcame sin; he rose again and walked the earth, overcoming the death of Satan and the evil ways of man.  It is due to Him that we have a way to live again once our bodies die.  He will give us new ones, a spiritual body of a different form such as He had when he rose again.  People saw him being lifted up into heaven and disappearing.  We who believe will be lifted up the same way once we die in our bodies, yet we will live on for eternity and live with our Savior and Lord.

Jesus did not come to judge the world; he came to save it from our sin.

Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n Roll vs. Godly Lives

I’ve learned a lot lately, how Pastors are changing things.  I’ve written before about how I cannot stand what has happened in the churches, having manifestations of strange ideas, looking for miracles, signs, and wonders.

It’s as if God himself were taking a back seat to all the shenanigans.

I can see how new pastors who have studied under these mega church pastors want the same things they have; large attendances, lots of rock-band singing of those Christian songs, and who build excitement in their memberships.  All you need is a pastor’s stage-diving into his audience to “crowd surf” to really enjoy a church rock band.

Well, this is what it’s turning into.  Maybe a “safe space” will be provided in a back room where people can smoke a joint and “decompress”, knowing they are in a safe place and can talk about their issues with an understanding counselor.

It reminds me of what the world was once, turning into a grand human experiment, with no rules to abide by.  Hang out, drop in and play your guitar.  What a sense of community with guitar-laden, cool people to sit down with for a cup of coffee, talk Jesus and perform miracles.

After all, what is church about but to “be cool with your brothers and sisters in Christ”, accepting everything one does, never teaching wrong from right and acceptance is key.  It sounds like a liberal party.

In his Charismatic Chaos, John MacArthur quotes Dewey Beegle, from The Inspiration of Scripture (1963):

“What distinguishes the Bible is its record of special revelation, not a distinctive kind of inspiration.”

This goes against those who want to change the bible’s specialness from how to live Godly lives and understanding how obedience to Jesus is practiced, to what is good is what makes one feel good and all are welcome, any behaviors will be tolerated, that “Jesus loves all” and so we should too.

Jesus taught right from wrong, what was special about his Father’s words.   That he is the Son of the One True God and that people should worship Him; and not those guitars and music that talk about sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll.

A better life is waiting for us and we should thank the Lord every day for the possibility of being with Christ Jesus for eternity.  We should leave ungodly lives behind.

Ramblings About Transgenderism. Why I Cannot Be A Counselor And Be A Christian At The Same Time: An Example

Someone wrote on their blog recently that they felt “dehumanized” because they were a transgender who said they were a Christian.  Someone had criticized transgendered people and it didn’t feel fair to this person.  They felt criticized as a person and took it personally as a person who had a change in their identity.

The bible talks about sin.  Sin is sin.  Transgenderism is an unfortunate malfunction, somehow, of humans.

Our DNA is usually male or female; transgenderism is a human form of changing identity, but not the DNA.  They are born male or female, that’s what God ordained, not transgenderism.  Transgenderism, maybe a wish to be the opposite sex of what they were born to be, is a mental illness to me.  That is what is wrong with society.  Society changes with social norms that change over time.  Remember the sexual revolution of the 60’s and 70’s?

Social norms doesn’t make it right.  Mutilation of the body in an effort to make a person another sex displays someone who is mentally deranged, who wants to make themselves into a new person.  Not the one they were born to be as, from birth on in their lives.

Trying to change the sex of a human being is not normal.  It is unbiblical.  What did Jesus teach?

He taught the words of the Father in heaven who did not speak about changing the body so you’re a male if born female, and vice-versa.

Where in the bible does it talk about that?

Same with homosexuality; it’s throughout the Old Testament.

Do not lie with the same sex, is what it talks about, and how that’s sin.

Do we let changing sexual norms change what is right?

We men meant to be women, and women meant to be men?

The answer is no, of course.

The blogger who said they were transgender and a Christian, doesn’t know what he or she is talking about.

And really, what are they trying to be?  A he who is also a she?  Or the other way around?

I’m just asking.

This transgendered “Christian” did not keep with the bible that did not say anyone was supposed to change their “gender”.  Transgendered people do not change their DNA that designates us as being male or female.  They change their bodies in cosmetic ways, pretending as if they were someone or something else than that which they were born to be.

Is it for man to change what his sexual designation is, to mutilate themselves physically, morally and sexually?  Or is it God’s designation that He made some mistakes, and people are not born into the right sexual category?  How can God make mistakes?

He never taught that we were supposed to be male or female, only that Adam and Eve started the whole human race.  Sometimes people forget that.  They are self-reliant, owning their own fleshly minds; not knowing enough or understanding the mind of God, their Creator.

Not all are saved, and not all transgendered people are saved.  Just because you’re a transgendered person does not make you God’s child.  He is the Creator of the human race and the DNA He put into our bodies, but saving yourself from sin is not how it works.  We don’t get to dictate if we are saved.

Being saved from sin is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.  He died on the cross to erase all the sin in the world for those he chooses to “save”; he died on the cross for those of us who acknowledge our sin and believe on his work on the cross.  Jesus is the Savior.  Man did not save himself from all sin; Jesus did that in one fell swoop on the cross by dying that day.

Then he rose again, as we’ve studied in the bible.

But does the transgendered people know that?  They seem not to.

Creating a bible that welcomes all sin is wrong.  It is not the bible.  It’s is someone’s version of it.  It did not get written by men inspired by God Himself to write it.  Men in churches who welcome all sinners who live in sin are creating a death pit; they do not stand out as saying all sin is wrong.  Sin is sin.

The ways of man are sinful and we have a sinful nature now that mankind “fell” when Adam and Eve took a bite out of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil.  They knew the sin and had their eyes and minds open to the sinful ways that man since then has suffered through.

We need a Savior.  That man is Jesus.
